I was born and raised in Naich in Osaka with my father last name of Oki The first time I saw him cry was when we visited his childhood home and memories of his parents, brothers and sisters washed over him Even with my imperfect nationality, my uncles siad, You're family, come back here any time
Now when I hear the ocean, even with the waves breaking on foreign military bases I picture my grandpa and his Sanshin guitar. I heard him playing once and it was beautiful
